The design of this elegant guéridon is inspired by various decorative styles, most prominently Louis XVI and Empire. The table is topped by a circular malachite surface, the bright green stone wonderfully standing out against the darker, ormolu frame. The frieze is cast in the form of a prominent egg and dart edging, below which are three decorative legs. The trio is of a tapering form, cast to depict winged caryatids, and is joined by swirling floral wreaths. These are joined to a central ormolu urn-shaped feature providing additional support for the top. The legs terminate with large scrolls and lion-paw feet. Embodying the beautiful amalgamation of styles popular in the late 19th and early 20th century, this guéridon is guaranteed to be an attention-grabbing addition to one’s home.
