Ancient Luxury Tall Case Clock

This exceptional vitrine cabinet is finished ormolu mounts and marquetry of kingwood and tulipwood. The cabinet is bombe shaped with a serpentine profile and is comprised of five glazed bays, with the side and central bays opening with doors. Each bay of the cabinet features a shaped glazed panel framed with ormolu acanthus borders, below of which is a similarly framed panel of floral marquetry of tulipwood and kingwood. The bays are separated by ormolu beading, which culminates above in putti-headed chutes and below in cabriole legs terminating in ormolu foliate sabots. The cabinet is surmounted by a shaped top centred with an elaborate ormolu rocaille crest, while the apron below undulates similarly between each leg and is likewise finished with ormolu beading.

The interior of the vitrine is finished with violet velvet and contains three glass shelves, which can be adjusted to change the internal layout. The piece is especially large and of exceptional quality.
